Our big skies, your wild love

There’s no shortage of incredible vistas in Montana. Let’s find the perfect one for you and get you hitched!

There’s no place like montana

Whether you consider yourself super outdoorsy and want to do a backcountry wedding in Glacier or you want to hike as little as possible but still get incredible mountain vistas in the Beartooths, I’ll make your vision come to life.

Bring yourself and your partner (and your dog, I love dogs), or bring your parents and grandparents and best friends– we’ll find the perfect spot for your wedding that checks every single box.

Hey hey hey! I’m Brigit!

I’ve been chasing adventure since the day I was born (no, literally).

I was born in a snowstorm in the middle of May in the rural Utah mountains. My uncle drove my parents through the snow to the hospital in a beater pickup truck. That sort of set the tone for the rest of my life.

I moved all over the US roughly every three years. Moving around so much, I learned quickly that nothing was ever permanent — except for pictures. Pictures were often all I had of a place or to remind me of friends. Whether it was the Black Hills, my apartment in Tokyo, or my time traveling to and working in North Korea, a lot of those memories have faded but I still have pictures to take me back there.

Before I went full-time into photography, I was an anthropologist. I love learning about people and telling stories through photography. I want to know everything about you both — what do you love, what can’t you stand, what makes your hearts soar? I’m not just there to snap a shutter, I’m there to document and preserve your legacy.

Pictures are your legacy.

And they’re as much for you as they are for the people who love you, both now and in the future.

It’s so important to invest in someone who shares your vision and who you trust to make it a reality. But more than that, the number one most important thing when hiring a wedding photographer is trusting that they’ll capture your legacy in the way you want it captured.

Because trust me: once the moment is gone, it’s gone. Don’t miss a moment of your day.

I’ve been in Montana since 2003 and married into a family that’s been here since the 70s. You’ll be hard pressed to find another photographer who knows this state better than me! I grew up with a heart for travel and a love of the outdoors but wouldn’t have called myself “outdoorsy.” But my husband and his family helped foster my love of the outdoors and now I revel in teaching that to others, no matter their age or ability.

Let me show you the beauty of our state, help you explore like a local while you’re here, and make your elopement everything you’ve ever dreamed.

I got married here, too!

I got married in Missoula in 2005. Since then, I’ve seen how the wedding industry has evolved but one thing remains the same – there’s nowhere more beautiful for a wedding than Montana.

No matter how big or small your wedding is, you can have the wedding of your dreams in Montana. There’s venues for every size and budget, with whatever backdrop you can imagine. Whether you’re local or coming here for your destination wedding, I’ll help guide you through the whole process.

“Brigit was amazing! We were so thankful to have her for our entire wedding weekend.”

The Process — From Booking to Wedding Day and Beyond

Hiring an elopement photographer is a huge undertaking. And you don’t know what you don’t know! Let me demystify the process for you so you know what to expect when you book me.

Click any one of those handy-dandy buttons and schedule a consult call. If you’re local to Missoula, this can include a coffee (or brewery!) date! If you’re not from around here, we’ll chat over Zoom. I want to hear all about your love story, your vision for your day, and get to know you. We’ll also go through wedding galleries and go over my contract so we’re all on the same page and nothing is a surprise. Once you pay the 25% retainer and sign the contract, you’re on my books and we can get to planning!

My default payment plan is 25% down, and then the remaining 75% divided into two payments. The first half is due at least 3 months before your day, and the remaining half of that is due two weeks before your day so you don’t have to worry about paying me while preparing for your day!

I also know weddings can be a lot to budget for, so I’m always happy to customize payment plans for you. Pay up front all at once! Pay a little every month! Whatever works for your budget, I’m here to make it happen so you get the amazing experience you deserve!

Some people have a general location in mind (Glacier National Park, for instance) but not a specific spot. We’ll talk through your vision. Maybe you want to get married in a spot with a big open field and mountain views but don’t have a specific location in mind. I got you. This is the benefit of hiring someone whos not just a local but who’s been exploring here for 21 years — that kind of knowledge doesn’t just come from nowhere!

Some couples prefer to find all their vendors themselves, some want recommendations, some prefer that I find them all. Whatever your preference, I’m here to help! I have a list of vendors with whom I’ve worked and who I trust, and I’m also happy to help vet and communicate with them as needed.

I’ll be in contact throughout the planning process. Whether it’s a micro-wedding or you’re having a big wedding with all your friends and relations, we’ll plan everything down to the minute through meetings and questionnaires.

That all depends on your wedding and how long you have me for! But what I can promise is I’ll constantly check in with how you’re doing. We’ll take deep breaths as needed, I’ll help fix your hair or hold your phone. All my photos work off gentle prompts so you can focus on your love and never have to feel awkward on camera (and trust me, I’ll check in before anything that might make you feel awkward, like kissing on camera). We work to your comfort level (and as outside it as you’re willing to go) to get those once-in-a-lifetime shots.

Some photographers put a cap on how many images they deliver. I don’t. These are your memories. You deserve these to cherish for the rest of time. I guarantee at least 75 photos per hour. And that’s 75 even if we’re huffing and puffing up a trail. I want you to remember every single moment of your day. My promise to you is that you’ll go home with incredible memories of Montana, I’ll go home and edit until I can’t see, and you’ll have these photos to share and treasure forever.

Within 24 hours of returning to civilization, I’ll send at least 40 sneak peeks from your day so you can relive every second and share it with everyone who loves you! After that, I give about a week to a week and a half of work for every hour of photography. My standard delivery time is between 6-8 weeks, with 10 being the maximum (for full-day or full-weekend packages).

If you choose to have an engagement session, you’ll get those back about 2-4 weeks after our session!

Albums and prints ordered through me are delivered 6-10 weeks after your wedding day. If you order through my gallery store, those are handled by Pic-Time.

I believe in caring for the land while also making eloping accessible for everyone

Recreating responsibly since 2003

How do you practice Leave No Trace?

Here’s the thing: going off the trail makes me twitchy, and I won’t apologize for it. So many beautiful places here in Montana are also very fragile ecosystems. All those wildflower meadows you see in Glacier? Fragile alpine wilderness!

If we want these places to be here for everyone to enjoy for generations to come, we need to be conscious of how we use them now. Let’s not be That Guy, yeah? We’ll go only where we’re able to go, we’ll stay on the trail, and we’ll take only the amazing memories we make and photos we take with us.

Trust me — you can recreate responsibly and still get the amazing experience you’re dreaming of. And please, don’t trust anyone who says differently. Why? Because going off-trail and trampling wildflowers or fragile meadows hurts those places and we may not be able to go there in the future.

Eloping is possible for everyone!

What if we need an ADA-accessible trail/location?

Let me assure you: you don’t have to hike very far to have an incredible ceremony. If you’re coming from out of state, I’ll help scout and vet any venue or location to ensure it meets your needs.

I’m a huge stickler for inclusivity at every opportunity. Whatever your ability, whatever accommodation you need, I’m here to make sure you get the amazing experience you deserve. I’ll help you walk down the trail or schlep out a chair for you or Grandma to take breaks as needed. The outdoors are for everyone!

The Experience

Booking a wedding photographer is a huge undertaking. How do you know who to pick? How can you trust the process? What even is the process?? Let’s walk through what you’ll get with me, and what makes me stand out, and most importantly, what I promise you’ll get before, during, and after your day.

Decades of Knowledge

Anyone can photograph a wedding here. It takes a real local to know all the ins and outs of permit acquisition, how to prepare you for your day, arrival times, when the lighting is best, and how to recreate responsibly. I care about this place not just because it’s gorgeous but because I live here.

Empathy

Hear me out — I’m, as Kendrick Lamar would say, an extroverted introvert. I still remember the stress of my wedding. I remember how awkward I felt taking our photos. I never want that for you. My number one non-negotiable is you’ll always feel comfortable on camera. And when you get your photos back, you’ll think “damn, we looked good!”

Fun!

My second non-negotiable: we’ll have fun! Weddings are supposed to be fun, right?! We’ll chat, we’ll crack bad jokes (bring me your favourite dad jokes and puns, please!), and we’ll keep everyone de-stressed. Part of being the main coordinator for your day is taking on that stress and making sure you can enjoy every moment.

A No-Nonsense Attitude

I build out timelines to account for any hiccups, give us time to adjust (say, if we have to wait for the rain to pass or someone is running a few minutes late), and make sure everyone knows what the expectations on the day are. The number one expectation? That you get to tune out the noise and celebrate your love!

Reliable Communication

Even in the midst of wedding season, you’ll never have to wait long for a reply from me. Please reach out anytime, even just to vent to a neutral third party!

Your Memories, Protected

Your memories are just that — yours. They’re always safe with me so you never have to worry about losing them. I dual shoot every wedding, meaning your files are on two memory cards the second the shutter snaps. Those files stay on those memory cards until after I deliver them to you. They get backed up to two locations while I edit (one hard drive, one in the cloud). And they’re always stored in three places (two hard drives with redundancy, one in the cloud) in perpetuity. I know the devastation of having a hard drive crash and losing things you loved. I promise I’ll always have your files so you never have to feel that devastation with your precious wedding day memories.

Getting married in Montana is easier than you think

Let’s dispel some common misconceptions

It’s expensive

You can literally run off to the woods with two witnesses and a marriage license that costs $53. Your wedding can be as elaborate or as simple as you want.

Locations are hard to get to

I can drive 15 minutes from my house in Missoula, walk another 15 minutes, and be in the wilderness. You don’t have to go very far to find incredible vistas for your wedding. Sometimes there are dirt roads involved but they’re absolutely worth it.

I can’t include the people I love

Most spots in places like Glacier allow up to 30 people for smaller weddings. Come to Montana with just your parents and besties or invite all your closest friends and aunties and uncles. We’ll go through how many people you want to include and what your options are on our consult call and as we secure permits.

I don’t need a whole day of coverage

But what if you do? The beauty of a wedding versus an elopement is you get to share it with the people who love you. One of my absolute favourite parts of the day is when your mom or best friend helps zip up your wedding dress. And once you’re through the ceremony and the dancing starts, there’s just something so special about the joy of everyone dancing around you on the dancefloor. Capture every moment — you won’t regret it.

“Brigit was amazing capturing our day on film and Super 8! The film captured the essence of the day so well. I’m so obsessed with my photos and can’t stop looking at them!”
