Vashon Island Engagement Session

First, let me tell you about this couple before I show you their Vashon Island engagement session. Not only are they absolute sweethearts, but their wedding is going be amazing. When they said it was going to include a fireworks show (on July 4th, natch), I knew I had to be their photographer. I always love doing engagement sessions with my couples before a wedding day. Not only does it ensure we’re not complete strangers on a wedding day, but everyone gets comfortable on camera. These two said they were nervous but once they got the hang of the prompts, they were naturals. Can’t wait until your wedding day in a couple weeks, J+T!

One of the reasons this is one of my favourite spots for a Vashon Island engagement session is not only do we get The Mountain in the background, but we get the beautiful lighthouse!

Vashon is such a joy for photo sessions. It’s gorgeous, first of all, and it’s nowhere near as busy as other Seattle locations where I do photoshoots. Anytime anyone wants to hop that ferry with me and go to Vashon, I am like a kid on Christmas.

One thing I always tell my couples is: be yourselves. Which sounds simple enough. I don’t know about you, but the second you put a camera in front of me, I completely forget how to be myself. Which is why all my posing prompts are simple directions. And the magic truly happens in the in-between moments. The ones where you both relax a little more and snuggle a little tighter.
